Prior to the existence of the Universe, the World was in vast state of vacuum, Moo Geuk (endlessness, limitlessness). Yi (Li), principle, formed from Moo Geuk and Ki (Qi) formed, and then Ki divided in to Eum (Yin) and Yang, and the Universe formed and all things were created. State of Yi is referred to as Tae Geuk (state of great ultimate). Stillness and softness are Eum, movement and hardness are Yang. All creations in the Universe are formed by Eum and Yang; Eum and Yang form unity. Yang exists within Eum and Eum exists within Yang, harmony of Eum and Yang may be compared to a coin having two different sides, heads and tails. Every creation has properties of both Eum and Yang, Eum follows Yang and Yang follows Eum all the time that these two properties never can be separated. Man is referred to as a microcosm, Man himself is a Tae Geuk, male is a Yang, and female is an Eum. Principle of Eum Yang is relativity; positive pole (+) is Yang and negative pole (-) is Eum, odd number is Yang and even number is Eum, light is Yang and darkness is Eum. Eum and Yang coexists in the Universe and maintains the state of balance and harmony, therefore, the Universe can become vivid and immortal.
